Villa Westerduin

It’s a quiet, cozy, clean place, with a lovely breakfast. There’s free parking, and it’s close to the shops and beach. I definitely recommend it!

What a disgrace Villa Westerduin is. The receptionists were very rude and disinterested, and complaints get ignored. To get to your room, you have to carry your suitcase up a steep staircase yourself, since there’s no elevator. The room felt like a cubicle, with no toilet or bathroom in it; they’re elsewhere in the building. Ridiculous. The narrow three-quarter bed was a disaster too. Villa Westerduin belongs to the Badhotel Renesse, which isn’t any better. PEOPLE, NEVER BOOK THIS!!!

For the quality, I thought the room was overpriced. It was very small and stuffy, and the bathroom was tiny too. We tried opening the window, but there was no mosquito screen.

The breakfast was good, but the rest of our stay was a huge disappointment. We paid €535 for three off-season nights with breakfast for two in room 120 at Villa Westerduin, advertised as a Prestige room with sauna and whirlpool. It was in the middle of a noisy construction site, and there was no bathroom or toilet door. The sauna was a joke. For that price, it was completely unacceptable. Afterward, they moved us to wellness suite 101 at Villa Nordzee, but it had no sauna. We’d specifically ruled out that room when booking because we wanted a sauna and didn’t want stairs beside the bed to get to the toilet and bathroom. From experience, that isn’t entirely safe at night, even when sober. The terrace wasn’t fully built, and although there was a sauna there, it wasn’t fully installed. The grounds had wood scraps, stones, dirt, plastic sheeting, and other debris, and there were no cushions for the terrace loungers. Room cleaning was awful once and didn’t happen at all another time, which fit the general impression, with trash on the gravel and so on. We’d stayed regularly at the Badhotel for many years and had always been very satisfied. Such a shame, but everything has its time!
