Dinner was a real highlight. Our group of eight got to choose from three main courses, and every dish was delicious. Since it was my husband's birthday, they brought him a chocolate dessert with a candle. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, too. We stayed in one of the garden cabins. It was roomy, solidly built, and lovely inside, with a little deck where we could sit with a glass of wine. The historic hotel is gorgeous. I’d happily recommend both the stay and the restaurant.

Balk has a sweet little centre by the canal, and the bakery there is a must. As for the place itself, I’m completely in love with it. It’s charming and picturesque, the people are so nice, and the food is amazing. I’m definitely coming back.

The staff have such a warm, personal way with people, almost like a family. The food is delicious and the service is excellent, so be sure to include the dining package when you book. The setting is breathtaking, with a huge, mature woodland and different walking paths that lead to a quiet, peaceful beach. A great place to unwind, highly recommend it.

After a walk in the lovely "Rijsterbos" forest, this is a great stop for coffee or hot chocolate. Their HOME made Dutch Apple Pie is dangerously good, so be careful or you might eat your fingers along with it. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are delicious too.

I always enjoy stopping here before or after a walk in the forest. Their homemade apple pie with ice cream and whipped cream is a treat.
