Even with just one night here, we’re already planning to return and try some of the other rooms. The hosts were wonderful, everything was clean, and breakfast was nice. The Christmas decorations felt magical. The castle and rooms are incredibly beautiful, and the care taken to preserve the place’s history and culture shows in the details. A remarkable stay, especially if you love castles.

🤣🤣🤣 What a strange experience. We booked hoping for a quiet countryside break away from a techno festival near our village, then arrived to find a wedding happening at the hotel. That was disappointing. We waited around 15 minutes in the restaurant for check-in. An older man in jeans came past and asked if we were waiting. Our Dutch is broken, but we understood enough to say we were there to check in. He told us to follow him in Dutch and walked off before we could pick up our bags. I spotted him in another room and hurried after him. I asked whether the wedding would go on for long and explained that we were trying to get away from noise. He said, “You can rent the whole castle next time.” I took it as a joke, but told him it didn’t feel funny given our concern, and that I thought there was a conflict of interest because we’d paid to sleep there. He suddenly got angry, waved his hands close to my face and told me to leave because he didn’t want to deal with people like us. I told him to watch his hands and back away. We got a refund and left. The woman working with him was nice, quickly gave us cash, and seemed to apologize. We booked a much nicer castle hotel in Tielworm and are happy there. I was smiling through much of the exchange, mostly because it seemed comical how quickly things went downhill. I’m sharing this because there was no need for him to act like a brute. He seems overdue for retirement. Bad decisions make good stories, and he made a bad decision to become a hotelier. We’ve enjoyed reading the other reviews and sharing our stories. If I were having my wedding there, I wouldn’t be pleased to see the people checking guests in dressed as if they’d just come in from gardening. Maybe you have some money and don’t care, but show some respect for other people and get off your pedestal.

A weekend that should have been great became deeply disappointing. We didn’t get our deposit back, and no valid reason was given. The owner stopped answering our messages and accused us of misbehaving and vomiting, which simply isn’t true. He also claimed he had been watching us through webcams. To me, these baseless accusations and the withheld deposit are unprofessional and a serious invasion of privacy. It left us distressed and gave the impression that the people running Kasteel Terborgh care more about money than their guests. I’d strongly suggest staying elsewhere. Avoid this place.

Very disappointing. The place was under construction, with builders coming and going, and after a week’s stay I never got the small discount they had promised before I booked. I wouldn’t trust these money-hungry people.
