SEPHS Hotel

Dinner at 't Proeflokaal was a real highlight. The menu gave us plenty to choose from, and every dish was beautifully presented and delicious, with a creative take on regional flavours. Breakfast was also a treat, with a good selection of fresh options each morning. The staff were warm, attentive and always ready to help with a smile. We spent two nights at this renovated monastery in Sittard. Our room was spotless, spacious and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed. The peaceful grounds feel secluded, yet local amenities and the town are easy to reach. The mix of historic character and modern comfort made for a relaxing, memorable stay. We’ll be back. I was travelling for work and really enjoyed my stay. Lily at reception was wonderful, one of the kindest people I've met. She showed me around and shared some of the hotel's history. It used to be a monastery built in the 1700s and has been turned into a boutique hotel. The hotel is around 25 minutes from Valkenburg, whose Christmas market is, in my view, the best in Europe. I'd booked a loft-style room, but renovations were still underway and it didn't have a TV. They upgraded me to a family room for free. The room's details and current amenities were great, and I loved the architecture and the little touches. They provided a free breakfast in a picnic basket, complete with a full bottle of champagne. The service felt like that of a four-star hotel at a very affordable price. Thanks to the staff and management for the excellent customer service. The basket was so cute that I included a picture. We loved the room. It was huge, clean and decorated in a style I really liked. SEPHS is a beautiful place, with lovely walks nearby, and the staff were so cordial. The prooflokaal was a great extra too: amazing vlaai and cappuccinos, and we had dinner there twice. The staff there were very nice as well. We'd love to come back!

The rooms were all brand new, though work was still happening in the hallways when we stayed. We were the hotel's first guests after its renovation began, so I wonder why there are reviews from six months ago, as it must have been a different hotel before. The service was lovely, and since there wasn't a breakfast room, breakfast was served in our room. I'm looking forward to seeing how the place looks once the work is finished. It should be a great place to stay.
