Fletcher Hotel Restaurant Het Witte Huis

The staff were excellent, and everything had recently been modernized. The motel rooms are a good size, but the rooms in the main building felt too small for a couple and seemed aimed mostly at solo business travelers. It's a bit removed from everything, so a car or bus is needed for convenience.

The manager handled our complaint with professionalism and respect, and overall we had a great experience. The hotel is in a lovely natural setting and our room was clean and tidy. The walls are a little thin, so you can hear neighbors, though it didn't bother us much. The restaurant had just changed its menu and service was quite slow. We knew this in advance and chose to eat there anyway. At check-in, the receptionist offered the breakfast package for 16.5 EUR/p and described the omelets, pancakes, eggs, bacon, and other hot items. But at 9:30, an hour before breakfast ended, all the warm food was gone. The woman looking after breakfast seemed irritated when we asked for more, then said perhaps she could make bacon later. I found the situation hilarious in a four-star hotel, and other guests who arrived after us weren't pleased either.

The fire alarm went off in the morning and kept ringing for 10 minutes, making for a lovely Sunday wake-up. About 40 minutes after it stopped, someone from the hotel came into our room with a key. We told him we weren't ready and needed five minutes, but he was rough and antisocial about it. We'd also been promised a double bed for two, but instead got two single beds.

A decent hotel, though don't expect five-star treatment. Breakfast was the same every day and could use some improvement.
