B-aparthotel Kennedy

Calling this a hotel is misleading. These are apartments with no service and none of the feeling of a hotel or a vacation. The room looks nice in the photos and is passable inside if you can put up with the very musty air. The closet doors didn’t work, and it wasn’t very clean. You’re expected to take out your own garbage or pay a penalty. It’s listed as pet friendly, but if you don’t announce a dog, they charge €50 a day. We weren’t hiding our very large dog; we simply hadn’t known about the policy. It is in the terms, fair enough, though who reads all the fine print? Even so, after noticing an honest mistake, they could have spoken to us, left a note or sent an email. Instead they waited until day three and charged us €150. Pathetic and dishonest. I can’t recommend this place.

We stayed at B-aparthotel Kennedy for a little over two months, and being able to bring my cat was a big plus. I told them in advance, and the €240 pet fee was explained by email as cover for any furniture damage. If nothing is damaged, it comes back a week after checkout. The staff were kind and quick to sort out any reasonable problem, and they gave us useful suggestions for places to eat and things to do. Check-in was easy because they sent clear instructions beforehand. They also ask for some information before 12 pm the next day, and explain that in a letter in the room. There are printed instructions all over the place, from the laundry room to the coffee machine and automatic door. Apparently some guests don’t read them. Our room was spacious, modern, spotless, and felt comfortable to live in. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was comfortable, and the quiet room made it easy to relax. There’s a fitness center, a lounge, and a laundry room that we used often. Bring your own detergent and fabric softener. Albert Heijn is an 8-minute walk away for groceries and other basics. The location was handy for major sights, and public transportation was easy to reach. From the friendly welcome when I arrived to the helpful service throughout, I had a really good stay. I’d happily come back for work or a holiday.

The beach and city center are both close enough to walk to. We liked the large, comfortable beds and the well-equipped kitchen in these modern apartments. There’s no daily housekeeping, which was completely fine with us and helps protect the environment. I’d recommend staying here.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the shower gets nice and warm. But check-in and reception made our stay much harder than it needed to be. Reception is only staffed part of the time, and the self-check-in process is complicated. I arrived with a group whose rooms were booked under different names. We couldn’t find one reservation, so I had to pay for an extra night. We found the booking later, but the part-time receptionist had already gone home, and I was still stuck with that extra charge. For a few dollars more, I’d choose a regular hotel.
