Ben s Boutique Hotel - Suite

The room is small, but it has what you need for a stay of a few days, ideally around three. The location is really convenient, with the beach, tram, and supermarkets all nearby. There's no reception, which suited us, though I can see how it might be difficult for someone visiting The Netherlands for the first time, especially from another country.

The beach is close by, along with the cinema, theatre, and plenty of other things to do. There's a working fridge and air conditioner, and the Wi-Fi seemed good. It's an affordable, fine place if you just need somewhere to sleep for a few nights and won't spend much time inside. There were a few problems, though. We didn't get enough toilet paper, the window wouldn't open, and the water tasted odd. It made me feel sick for a day. One towel had something dirty on it, there was a stray black hair on the bed, and I found several spiders in the toilet.

The room and bathroom were clean, even though both were a bit small, and the room had several windows that opened. We were fine with the self check-in, and the narrow hall and stairs seemed perfectly normal for the Netherlands. We enjoyed our stay at Ben´s Boutique Hotel, especially since some of the Google reviews had sounded less positive. Usually you're only in the room to sleep, anyway. I meant to write a good review, but after checking out and heading home, I realized I'd left three silver rings from Nepal in the room. I wore them every day and they meant a lot to me. I emailed the Ben´s Boutique Hotel team and never heard back, then called, but nobody answered. I guess the rings are gone. I think guests should be able to reach the hotel staff and manager. I hope whoever found them enjoys them!

The location is the hotel's one redeeming feature. The room was small and had no window. There was ventilation, but it was too noisy to sleep with at night. The electrics were awful too: at night I could only switch on the main light, with no way to use a bedside lamp. I didn't want to stay another night. There's no reception desk and everything is handled online. When we tried the emergency number, nobody could be reached. I can't recommend it.
