The staff were kind and the location is perfect, right in the centre. But the room smelled as if people had smoked in it repeatedly over a long time, not just that day. We left the window open for hours while we went to dinner, hoping the smell would clear without bothering the staff. When we got back at night, it was just as bad. After one night, both our lungs and throats felt like we'd smoked more than a pack of cigarettes ourselves. We quit a long time ago, so we know the feeling. The air quality seemed really poor. Maybe the automatic air vents were bringing in smoky air? They ran all night and made enough noise to keep us up a bit. Or maybe other guests had broken the no-smoking rule over the years. The room was noisy too, we could hear people in the other rooms very clearly. It was only partly clean. The bed was comfortable, but the blankets felt synthetic and made us sweaty. The night light switches and outlet are awkwardly placed in the headboard by the pillows. My pillow switched the lights on a couple of times, and charging a phone inside the bed is not ideal. The superior room was basic but had the essentials, including a nice shower and clean toilet.

The staff were lovely, always smiling and ready to help. Everything in the city centre was close by. My room was small but cozy. It felt a little cold for me, and adjusting the temperature was a bit complicated. The room and bathroom could have been cleaner, though my expectations are sky high. :)

The location is perfect, and for the very reasonable price in this area I can't complain about the quality. Just be aware that the amenities tray takes up about a quarter of the sink, so I couldn't wash my face properly. You can also hear sounds from next door, especially the tram if your room is on the side.

It's a very basic place, with no wardrobe, but it's spotless, central, and the staff are amazingly friendly. Great value for money. We've stayed several times, either on our own or as a family of three. If you're visiting The Hague and just need somewhere to sleep, it's a great choice. The one drawback is the heating in winter. It was too noisy to sleep with it on, and we couldn't turn it on while we were out. Even with zero degrees outside, we managed.

I stayed for three nights and everything went smoothly. I'd recommend booking and paying through the official website, then settling the city tax on site. Water refills are available. Hot water costs €1,00, and they provide a towel and a combined soap and shampoo. A toothbrush costs extra.
