Fletcher stadshotel Den Haag

At least my room was sort of clean, as long as you didn’t look too closely. I heard another guest getting upset after being given two dirty rooms, so apparently the third time was the charm for them. My own room was dated, with scuffed furniture, a curtain partly off its rail, and carpet that looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned since it was installed. The bed was two singles pushed together with a thin pad instead of a proper mattress. The common areas were worn too, and service on arrival was poor, barely a hello.

The room was larger than I expected, with a big bed, table, desk, and a lovely bathroom. We had a fun check-in and joked around a bit, and the staff were kind enough to hold our luggage while we explored the city. There were some stains on the carpet and rips in the curtains, but overall it was pretty nice.

The bed was comfortable, breakfast was decent, and the staff were really nice. Breakfast just wasn’t as varied as I’d expect at a four-star place. The room had a lot of stains on the carpet, and water dripped from the bathroom ceiling because of a leak. There were no slippers, robe, or iron for clothes either. I’d call it two stars at best, not four, and I wouldn’t return.

The hotel couldn’t handle the reservation properly. I expected to stay three more nights after the first one, but when I came back for the second night, my belongings had been put at reception and I was told the booking wasn’t valid. The place also looks more like a two-star hotel than the four stars it claims. The rooms are very old, the toilet is really cold, and the building generally seems poorly maintained.
