The breakfast was just fine, and the rooms have enough space and are well equipped, though it’s been a long time since they were renovated. From a higher floor the views are amazing, and the hotel is within walking distance of the city center. I really liked being able to decline room cleaning in exchange for a drink. I’d actually rather not have anyone come into the room, and the free drink is a nice extra.

Rotterdam was fully booked for Breakbulk Europe, so I ended up staying in The Hague. The hotel breakfast was a highlight. The cappuccino had such thick, creamy foam!

We stayed a few days with our dog. The windows kept out sound well, the view was pleasant, the food tasted good, and the room came with a dog bed, bowl and treats, which we appreciated. There’s a mini supermarket in the building and a lovely park with ducks across the street. The location is handy for both the city center and public transport. Some of the practicalities were frustrating. Parking is €27 a day, but you have to leave the lot every 24 hours or face a steep extra charge of €50 or more. There’s no help with luggage. Reception staff often seemed confused: even after we said we had a dog, they offered breakfast, then we learned dogs can’t go into the restaurant and had to order room service. In the morning, we were told breakfast hadn’t been paid for after all. The hotel charges €25 per day for the pet fee, but strictly forbids washing a dog’s paws in the shower. Room service was nearly impossible to reach. The room service button on the phone sent us to reception, where we were told to call the restaurant, but the restaurant didn’t answer. We ended up walking over to order dinner, and the waiter never asked for our room number. Luckily we noticed in time. The conditioner in the room was watered down until it was basically foamy water. The air conditioning was hard to adjust and could make the room very cold at night, so opening the windows might be better. For a one-night business trip this place could work, but I wouldn’t choose it to relax for a few days, especially with a dog.

I arrived around 10:30 at night and the staff were still pleasant, gave me snacks, and made check-in really easy. They answered promptly whenever I called or messaged, and helped me feel comfortable using public transport, which is right next to the hotel. It was an amazing stay, and I’d highly recommend the place.
