The Collector

The collector theme is such a fun idea, with cameras, cassette tapes, and telephones displayed beautifully, some even taken apart. We had a really comfortable room, a great bed and washroom, and excellent service. They gave us good restaurant suggestions, and breakfast was very good.

We got a little snack package as a complimentary gift when we left, probably for Christmas. Breakfast was delicious and had lots to choose from. Our room felt cozy and stylish, and it was easy to set the temperature to what I like, around 24C. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed at. I’d definitely recommend it.

Dear Owner of Hotel The Collector, I’m Paulus Setyabudi from Indonesia. We’ve stayed at your hotel twice before, and our five-night visit beginning September 20, 2024 was a delight. As an architect, I especially admired the hotel’s distinctive interior, careful details and accessories, and the character of the design, even though the property and rooms aren’t large. The rooms’ colors, wall panels, and decor were beautiful, and the food and drink had memorable, unusual touches. We were so pleased that we planned another five-night stay with our teenage children, from March 27 to April 1, 2026, booked through Agoda.com. We’d also bought Qatar Airways tickets for a European trip. Then war broke out in the Middle East on February 28, and Qatar Airways issued a travel waiver. We couldn’t go to Europe, so we had to cancel our plans for Paris, Brussels, and the Netherlands. Qatar Airways refunded our tickets in full because of the extraordinary circumstances. The hotel we’d booked in Paris was understanding and gave Agoda a free cancellation letter despite our non-refundable booking. Agoda responded quickly and processed the refund soon after. We appreciated their help. Hotel The Collector, on the other hand, repeatedly refused our requests for a similar letter. The replies felt automated and impersonal, repeating that we’d booked through Agoda under a non-refundable and non-reschedulable policy. We’re very disappointed that the hotel hasn’t been willing to help resolve something outside our control. It has affected the trust and positive impression we had built up. We feel management has shown no goodwill or effort to understand our situation. I’m writing directly in the hope this reaches you as the owner. We only stayed one night, and breakfast was enjoyable, with some dishes made fresh to order, though the breakfast area is far too small for the number of guests. The room was clean, and the location right in the city center was great. There was a Nespresso machine in the room. One thing I noticed once I was in bed: the pillow was too hard for me. Hotels often keep a softer spare in the closet, but there wasn’t one here. Also, the window wouldn’t open, so there was no fresh air in the room.
