Luxury Apartments I

Kim and Iris were both very responsive throughout, and happy to answer all my questions. The apartment was quite clean, and the location is superb. We stayed in the loft, which has a charm of its own.

The shower was another problem: I couldn't use it until the end of the date. More than anything, though, I can't accept that someone was allowed into the apartment without telling me. I stayed there with my daughter and a friend from 29th November to 5th December. On the 30th, we went out in the morning, and when I got back there was a man inside. He said I should have known he was coming to work on the bathroom floor, but nobody had told me. All my belongings were there, including important documents, visas and passports, because I was moving to another country. I can't describe how awful that felt. It was by far the worst experience I've had. I called the owner. She said, “my colleague must have forgotten to tell you. I am sorry.” I pressed for an explanation and emailed, but they didn't reply until the next day. They said they were human and made mistakes, that check-in was usually at 3pm and a colleague had to hurry to get the baby bed I'd requested, and that the apartment was dirty because the previous guests had just checked out. I had booked almost a month ahead and called before booking to ask about a baby bed. They said they had one, which is why I booked. If someone had to go buy it shortly before I arrived, that seems very disorganized. If they needed more time before check-in, they should have told me. That would have saved me waiting in the rain with my 2 years old daughter and arriving to a dirty apartment. They were late for check-in, and the apartment still hadn't been cleaned, so I had to wait for them to finish before I could put my daughter to bed. They'd emailed about the time, and we agreed on 13:30, but they were late and I was left in the rain with my little girl. I understand that maintenance is needed, but why was it so hard to schedule the work for when there were no guests? I paid a lot of money to be treated this way. Never again.

Utrecht is like my home in Nederland. I'm back every 4 months, always at the same place and apartment. It's always clean and everything is perfect. Iris is simply perfect, always a 5* host.

The flats are okay, but the big road right in front makes them noisy. It's an agency renting every flat in the same block, and you don't always get the flat shown in the listing. I wouldn't recommend it.
