Van der Valk De Gouden Leeuw

The restaurant was very clean, and service was great. We had the lunch buffet, which had a wide selection: different breads and charcuterie, plus separate islands for salads, hot dishes, and seafood. It was good.

It's not easy to get to, and a little far from Den haag cbd, but it's a really nice place. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with a great variety of meat.

Even though it was busy, they found us a very nice table looking outside. It's an easy place to enter, and the service is quick and efficient. The prices are more than fair for the generous portions. Nice to see Maison Kelder taartjes on the menu too.

I had a great stay here last year, so I can't believe how much the hotel has changed. It barely feels like the same place. Our shower kept leaking and left a large stain in the bathroom, and we found rubbish on the floor from a previous guest. The fridge also stopped working overnight and started heating the food. We had to throw away everything we bought at AH for lunch the next day. When I told the front desk, they didn't even apologize. I followed up by email and was told it was my fault for overloading the fridge. Apparently two sandwiches and salads were too much. I suppose we're allowed one can of pop? The main building is closed now, along with the restaurant terrace, main reception, and bar. There's no room service. The store was shut during our holiday weekend, which seemed odd to me since people stay in hotels on vacation and may want those services. The only food option was a pancake restaurant with an extremely limited menu, and instead of the usual Van Der Valk breakfast buffet, there were only a few à la carte options. This was a really poor experience, with poor maintenance and customer service.
