Dorpsdijk 53A

The apartment was clean, and the landlord was very friendly. There was a washing machine, dryer, and vacuum cleaner, plus two bicycles, though they weren’t in the best condition. The rest of the stay was a disaster for the €1,800 we paid for 10 days. The sleeping setup was especially difficult. The first bedroom, with two single beds, adjoins a small room with a little skylight. The second bedroom has no window, so it can’t be ventilated, and the bed is so cramped that the person at the back has to crawl over the person in front to get out. The apartment as a whole is hard to air out because of the windows, and the air conditioning doesn’t work properly. There’s no bathroom outlet either. Supplies and outdoor areas were lacking: no dustpan or bucket, just one dish towel, no grill, and no parasol, which a vacation rental really should have. The terrace is only about 4 sq m and unkempt, as is the courtyard. There’s just one parking space, reached through a driveway about 2.15 m wide. They went away for several days without telling us whom to contact if something happened, such as a power outage. They could have offered their own parking spot for our second car while away, but didn’t, so we often spent quite a while looking for parking in town.
