Hotel De Brabantse Biesbosch

The hotel may be older, but it was clean and had a cared-for feel. The new owners and the staff were so kind and accommodating, and the location is great for exploring biesbosch. We stayed one night and had lunch, dinner and breakfast. Everything we ate was really good, with good vegetarian choices too. They asked the evening before when we'd like breakfast, and it was all served as soon as we arrived in the morning. We'd definitely come back.

A lovely setting for long walks by the water, and the room was peaceful and pleasant. We stayed two nights and had two excellent dinners prepared by a very good chef. Highly recommended!

The garden and its cozy terrace looked lovely, but we wouldn't recommend dining here. The owners, especially the older woman, made it clear some customers mattered more than others. On the hottest day of the year so far, we were told we could only sit in the sun because the shaded tables were reserved for hotel guests. One of those tables wasn't occupied until about 10 minutes before we left. She never asked how the food was at our table, or at the other tables for non-hotel guests, while she checked on the hotel guests and the rest of us roasted in the sun. After a three-course meal and drinks, we just wanted to pay and go, but couldn't get her attention. When she finally came over, she only told us the total. I asked for an itemized bill, and she rudely almost threw the credit card receipt copy at me. I wonder how many people skipped extra food or drinks because of the heat, and how many won't return after that rudeness. They seem comfortable acting this way, perhaps because they're the only restaurant open in the area.

The food was mediocre, and I won't be back. They charged 2.5 euros for a bottle of tap water that wasn't even full, plus another euro when I asked for mosterd with my burger. That's ridiculous. They also don't provide an itemized bill, probably to hide these nonsense charges.
