Shire Bed and Breakfast

A cozy, pleasant place.

The breakfast is simple but good, and the rooms are clean with comfortable beds. The owner was helpful and friendly. Great value for money, though some bathroom fittings need attention, with limescale and loose sealant here and there.

We booked this place in December 2019 for eight households of friends and paid a 400 euro deposit. With the corona measures in place, the B&B wasn't suitable for a group that size. The owners said we could still come, despite the difficulty of keeping social distance and the risk of a hefty fine. We felt a weekend spent sitting in the common area in groups of three households wouldn't be enjoyable, so we asked to find a solution together. The owners stopped answering our calls and emails, and we lost the deposit. Zero service.

Everything else was great: the service was good, the place neat and clean, and breakfast delicious. We were disappointed that rooms 6 and 7 are the only ones without their own bathroom, and we were given room 7. We’d also hoped for a double bed, but got two single beds pushed together on wheels, which made it hard to sleep comfortably side by side. Too bad!
