The two friendly women at the front desk were the highlight. They made me feel at home and were the “pareltjes” of my stay. Dinner was a nice surprise, beet risotto with Grüner as the wine pairing, though hearing drilling from the hotel construction next to the restaurant during dinner was inexcusable. The breakfast buffet was good, with lovely views. I liked the Prosecco, including the 0.0% option, and would love to see a smoked salmon display with garnish added to the breakfast choices. I also enjoyed the small pool and fitness center, but wished there were a clock on the pool wall so I could keep track of time. The property is dated but consistent, and can be good value at around 100 euros a night including breakfast, at the right time of year. My room had the basics, strong WiFi, and great views, but the two mattresses pushed together made for a strange bed setup. There were holes in my sheets, a lamp didn’t work, and the bathroom was quite dark. This wasn’t my first visit and won’t be my last, but more attention to detail, general care, and common sense would make the next one much better.

This past weekend was our third family visit to WestCord Hotel Schylge. The location can’t be beaten, and it’s always a pleasure to return to Terschelling and what we think is its best hotel. The rooms are spacious, with large, well-equipped bathrooms, and we enjoyed the generous breakfast buffet. The staff were friendly and service-minded as always. We hope to be back soon.

Bas at reception was super friendly and went the extra mile. Our room leaked when it rained, though, and the rest of the staff didn’t seem bothered enough to check it out. Nice hotel, but that was disappointing.

The location is quiet, with plenty to explore around the island, and the hotel has spacious, clean rooms, hot water, good views, a bowling bar, e-bike rental, tasty breakfast, and an option to book a large private sauna. Most guests seemed to be older couples. We were grateful for the stay and might come back, but for a four-star hotel costing around 200 euros a night, a few service problems mattered. We left our laundry bag outside and told reception, but it still hadn’t been picked up after a whole day. One front-office staff member didn’t know how the hotel’s laundry worked or when it might be ready. In the end, we washed it ourselves rather than wait another day for something that might get done. We also weren’t told that our booked sauna needed a separate access card, so we lost 10 paid minutes trying to figure that out and find someone to help. And when we raised any of these issues, no one said a basic “sorry for the inconvenience.” It felt as if staff never acknowledged mistakes on their side.

We had a fantastic stay at WestCord Schylge hotel in Terschelling. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, including with planning places to visit, activities, and restaurants. The restaurant had a wonderful sea view, and the hotel is an easy walk or bike ride from town. We rented bikes from the hotel when we arrived and used those same bikes for our whole visit, taking them all over the island. My only criticisms are that the bathroom showers are getting a little old, and we wished sauna use was free. Thanks for having us as your guests!
