Dekkers Hotel

The restaurant food was tasty and the portions were good, but the rooms were very dirty. Nobody seemed to clean them, apart from replacing the towels. The same sheets stayed on the beds throughout, there were dead mosquitoes and dirt on the walls, and the floors looked like they had never been vacuumed.

The breakfast was self-service, with a very good choice and taste. There was chocomel and Ruiver puur, and the eggs were boiled just right. The hotel has a reception and steakhouse in the center, beside coop and Aldi, with free public parking. In 2018 I stayed in room 58. It was a large double room with a small balcony and a big bathroom with an open shower, but only a small desk. The carpet was very dirty, and there was mould on the coffee water heater. There was no safe. My ratings were: bed 1, light 0, AC not applicable, Wi-Fi 0, mould 1, cleanliness 2, breakfast 0, check-in/out 0, service not applicable, car park 1, friendliness 0, restaurant not applicable, other not applicable. The scale was 0 bad, 1 okay, 2 good, 3 better than expected.

It was an okay one-night stop for cyclists, although somewhat expensive because of how close it is to Antwerp. The building sprawls and seems set up to house people working for BASF and the Antwerp harbour. The town itself was nice.

There isn't much around the hotel, though it is at least close to the refineries. The food is great, and the rooms are okay, depending on where you end up.
