Monument Hotel

I was very unhappy with the service during my five-day stay. My room wasn't cleaned during the four days, and although I asked several times for fresh towels, I got just one on the last day. There were no slippers, and after repeated requests I was told they had run out. Toothpaste, shampoo, and conditioner were supplied once and never replenished.

I left for another hotel on the second night after waiting two hours for someone to come fix the broken air conditioning, following the same promise they'd made the night before. The room was at 93 F. Someone came up once, looked at it, said they'd return, and never did. The rooms are okay but small, and the showers are clear glass boxes. Noise from the clubs downstairs is intense, so choose somewhere else if getting sleep matters to you. Reception isn't staffed full time either, so you may have to call several times and wait 10-20 minutes to get help.

We come to town regularly and stay here every time. It's so convenient for the train, shops, and restaurants, and we love it. Highly recommend, and can't wait for our next trip.

The room looked nice, but the service was awful. When our Uber driver couldn't find the actual hotel, I called more than five times and got no answer. There was nobody at reception when we arrived. The receptionist works at the attached restaurant, where the food is 10/10, so it seemed like the hotel service came second. We asked to check in early because our friends had just done so. The receptionist said it wasn't possible, then denied they'd let our friends do it. I gave her their room number and name, and then she allowed us to check in early. The room was 90 degrees when we went in. Housekeeping and the receptionist, whom we had to find at the restaurant, both said there was no air. It was unbearably hot during the day and only got cooler as the nights did. I asked for a manager, but the receptionist said to email her and she'd respond in a few days, since she was on vacation and the only employee. I'd choose a hotel with good service and air conditioning over a pretty room.
