The breakfast was standard but good quality, and we left satisfied. There’s a store and supermarket right nearby, and a market on Friday. The hotel was surprisingly nice, clean, and tidy, right in the heart of Zuidlaren.

The family room had a nice setup, with two rooms linked by a staircase, and the hotel is right in central Zuidlaren. But the room smelled of smoke when we arrived, and there was a large dead moth on the wall that looked like it had been there a while. It gave me the impression the cleaners weren’t taking their job very seriously. The hotel feels quite dated overall. The carpets look dirty, and the walls are thin.

We stayed for a week, from 21st to 28th May 2024, and had a wonderful time in the beautiful room. It was extremely clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and had an ensuite bathroom. The hotel is in the beautiful village of Zuidlaren, in Drenthe, Netherlands, and has a calm, friendly atmosphere. Staff kept it exceptionally clean every day and were marvellous, polite, and friendly. There’s a lift as well as stairs. Breakfasts were a real pleasure, with a choice of foods and cereals. Lunch and evening meals are available if needed, and there’s a pavement cafe. It’s the best place I’ve ever stayed. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable.

The terrace is beautifully placed on the brink. We had a lovely coffee with something tasty and ordered sparkling water too. Friendly service.
