The rooms were decent for a couple of nights, and the superior room had a lovely view over the city and water. But the noise made it hard to sleep: on Friday into Saturday, people by the water were shouting from around 1 to 4 AM. I had one of my worst nights of sleep, and wouldn't open the windows then. I also went outside to the smoking area for some air around 1 AM. A taxi driver appeared and kept trying to talk even though I made it clear I wanted to be left alone. When I went back inside, he put out his cigarette and disappeared. It felt very strange and unsettling, especially as a young woman, and now I feel anxious about going downstairs alone at night. I know that wasn't the hotel's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you want fresh air overnight.

We found the staff welcoming and attentive, and our room was clean and looked after. The location also worked really well for being in the city. A few things let the stay down. Breakfast felt pretty average for what it cost, and there were no lactose-free items or local things like brown cheese. The bathroom worked, but it was cramped, especially the shower, and without a shower mat the floor got wet and slippery. We also didn't get on with the pillows. They were uncomfortable and left us with neck pain and headaches.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with lots of fresh choices, from local specialties and fruit to pastries and hot dishes. The staff were warm, professional, and happy to help. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a fantastic view of the town and fjords. Scandic Parken Hotel is right in the heart of Ålesund, so we could walk to the harbor, shopping streets, and Aksla viewpoint. The atmosphere was relaxing, and I had a wonderful stay. I'd highly recommend Scandic Parken to anyone visiting Ålesund.

The hotel was in a great spot for us, though Alesund is a small city anyway. It was especially handy that the airport bus stops right by the entrance. And the free breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I had on my Norway trip, probably the best I've ever had at a hotel. Highly recommend staying here.

Parking is available for an extra charge, and the breakfast has loads of choice and is excellent. The central location is the main reason to pick this hotel. The drawback is that nothing is open after breakfast on Sunday. We've run into the same thing at other Scandic hotels, and I think the people in charge should take it into account.
