Hotel Norge by Scandic

I rarely leave an average or bad review, but I’m pretty annoyed about how this went. The hotel has nice decor, a good location near the airport bus stop, and a very comfortable bed, at least for me. I submitted the online room-cleaning request a day ahead, as they asked, and expected it to be done. When I got back at 4:30 p.m. the next day, the room was still dirty. A woman at reception said someone would come, asked when, and we agreed on the next hour. I went out for dinner at 5:30 to give them time, but when I returned at 7:30, nothing had been done. I called again and a man assured me they’d clean it the next day after I explained I’d already asked twice. Honestly, I’d lost trust and wasn’t sure they’d follow through. I said I’d drop the rating to one star if they didn’t. Around 11:30 the next morning, someone from housekeeping came by. I’d returned from a hike to change some gear and saw them there. I said I’d check again after lunch, and the room had finally been cleaned for the first time.

The room was spacious, well equipped, and had a huge shower. Since it was low season, I was kindly upgraded to a larger one, which was a nice gesture. The reception staff were super friendly, and I liked the modern style. For a quick business trip, the central Bergen location was perfect, with public transport, taxis, shops, and restaurants all easy to reach.

The rooms look nice and the hotel is centrally located in Bergen, beside the Christmas market that runs in the last week of the year. We booked because the room description listed a pool as a facility. Once there, we found access costs extra, and children can only go early in the morning with a paying adult. It turns out to be a separate service run by an outside organization, which really cuts down the activity for kids. We felt misled and didn’t find the hotel child-friendly. We wouldn’t come back.

Breakfast was a real plus, with lots of fresh and tasty options. Hotel Norge by Scandic has a warm, modern feel, and the clean, cozy rooms are nicely designed for a relaxing break. A great spot to unwind in the heart of Bergen.
