The beds were cheap, squeaky and wobbly, worse than a typical hostel bed, and the room I stayed in had no outlets by any of them. The showers were good, but the bathroom was right beside the lounge, which felt a bit awkward since everyone could hear you. I walked into the messy kitchen and straight back out. There is luggage storage and the location is decent. Reception hours are limited, and the staff weren't the friendliest.

At Marken Guesthouse there were lots of bathrooms and showers, so we never had to wait. Our dorm was spacious and bright, the beds were comfortable, and it was a quick walk into town and to the train station. We had a great stay overall. My only gripe was that another guest stole our food from the fridge. That was a petty thing to do and annoying, even if it wasn't really the hostel's fault.

The staff were so friendly, from the girl who checked me in and answered all my questions to the cleaning lady. I'd definitely come back when I'm in Bergen again. The location is awesome, just a five-minute walk from the train station, and the beds are comfortable. There are big lockers in the rooms and plenty of toilets and showers, so you can use another if the one in your room is occupied. It has everything I look for in a hostel: a cosy living area, a free computer for looking up information, and a good kitchen and dining space, though the kitchen is small for the number of people.

I stayed in a 10-bed room. It was huge, clean, and had a fantastic view from the window. The hostel is nicely located and has a kitchen and dining area. My only small issue was the cold. There's just one heater for that big room. I guess the temperature is fine for Norwegians, but I don't think it's comfortable for visitors from outside Norway and Scandinavia.

A calm place when I was there, not loud or rowdy, though people were friendly. The guests included families, young backpackers, and seasoned travelers. The rooms were clean, the staff very friendly, and the hostel is only steps from the city centre.
