Scandic Ornen

The comparison with Scandic Voss, where we’d stayed the night before and had a fantastic experience, made this stay at Scandic Ørnen even more disappointing. The difference between the two hotels was huge, and Scandic Ørnen came off very badly. Our room was over 25°C, with no way to adjust the temperature or get fresh air because the window was boarded up. The bathroom was dirty, and the hair dryer cable had a thick coat of dust that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The whole place felt neglected. There was no comfort at all, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The staff were nice, and so were the location and breakfast. The toilets are also renovated and well maintained. But the rooms need updating, especially the old, dusty carpets, and they didn’t seem properly cleaned. The air was so dry that it was hard to sleep, even after they turned off the heating.

The check-in desk mishandled things and told us to leave the hotel and not return. Thank you for replying, but your account of what happened is inaccurate. The breakfast voucher I showed was still valid, so accepting it was your responsibility. I explained that and asked why I should pay for an error that wasn’t mine. I didn’t abuse anyone or act inappropriately. I stayed calm, disagreed with the charge, and said I thought it was unjustified. Pointing out a mistake and refusing to pay for it isn’t verbal abuse. Asking me to leave was a completely disproportionate response and, in my view, unprofessional. It wasn’t the kind of service or conflict handling I’d expect from an international hotel chain. I reject the claim that I behaved improperly. Please review what happened based on the facts, and acknowledge that guests shouldn’t be penalized for staff or system errors.

Everything was good, and the hotel is close to the train and bus station as well as the university campus. The avocado station at breakfast was an extra plus. I did find a sock from a previous guest under the bed, though.
