The setting is peaceful, with a lovely cultivated garden, and the hotel has a rare atmosphere. We stayed from September 5 to 7 and had a wonderful time. The food was spectacular, with a good wine selection, and breakfast was the best I can remember having at a Nordic hotel. Service was superb throughout, especially from Karolina and Elina in the restaurant. We’ll be back, and hope they’ll have some local beers to choose from then.

I felt like both an old friend and a valued guest here. The staff were thoughtful, kind, and welcoming, and the attention to detail was hard to beat. Dinner was superb. This hotel was spectacular!

Great service and a fantastic atmosphere. If you’re in the south of Norway, it’s definitely worth checking out. I’d recommend trying the sauna and taking a dip in the cold water too.

The hotel’s charming architecture and collections made a lovely impression, and there was fine music from a talented pianist in the atrium. I especially appreciated how the staff handled my being the only vegetarian in a group of 30. They made me a customized menu card and treated me just like everyone else. It’s easy to feel left out in that situation, so that meant a lot. A very pleasant experience.

The staff are skilled and kind, and we felt blessed by the comfortable beds with down, the exquisite dinners and breakfast, afternoon tea, wine, and cocktails. Beauty from one end to the other. Credit to the owner and staff for keeping the building and arboretum in such great condition. Highly recommended.
