A wonderful experience, with five-star service from Kirsti and her colleagues. They went above what I'd expect anywhere. I can't recommend the place enough.

The location is pretty, though Oset sits low in the valley, so it's not ideal if you plan to ski up to Storefjell. I haven't stayed in the rooms, so I can't comment on them, but they do have a good kids' room with a ping pong table. I've visited several times and always had a great time. Waffles are a classic and especially welcome after a day skiing.

The food was high quality and beautifully presented, and the ski and snowshoe gear for hire was excellent. Staff were cheerful and friendly all day. The Norwegian staff spoke superb English and had charm and good humour, which isn't easy in the hotel trade.

Pay for your bar drink right away. Otherwise, checkout can bring an unpleasant surprise: the lady at the bar writes the tab with a fork.

We had a beautiful weekend, thanks so much to the host. The hospitality was perfect, and the food and service were great, especially the brown sauce and caramel pudding 😋. Since the hotel is old, don't expect too much from the rooms.
