The hytte was clean and well equipped, and I really enjoyed staying there. The owner was lovely and welcoming, even when I checked in after reception hours, and paying was easy. The toilets and kitchen were basic but clean, with strong hot showers that take some Kroner coins. It's a simple but good campsite with great cabins. There's also a nice walk to a natural area just around the corner. Thanks, Birkelund!

The campsite owner was helpful and ready to show us around if we had any special needs or problems. We found it one of the nicest places we've pitched our tents so far. There are lots of beautiful spots nearby to explore, especially the Hivjufossen waterfalls. Thanks for having us!

We booked a hut through booking.com for dates when the campsite was closed. The owner said he'd refund us for the mistake, but now he isn't answering our messages and seems happy to keep the money we paid. At best, that's false advertising; at worst, it feels borderline scammy. 👎

We made our booking back in November and were told the campsite wouldn't open until summer, so the owner would refund us. I still haven't managed to get in touch with Birkelund Camping. Be aware, the customer service is lacking.

The man at reception was rude and barely spent three minutes with us when we arrived, even though the campsite was nearly empty. We left at 9 p.m. after just 30 minutes, despite having nowhere else to sleep. The bathroom was awful, and although there was an oven, there were no pans or pots. Everything was dirty, with dust fluff and other dirt across the floor. The beds were extremely dirty too, and there were no bedsheets, despite what was stated. Most of the positive reviews here seem very old, and the owner has changed. I've camped in Asia, India, and South America and never seen such a ridiculous place. I wouldn't stay here.
