Sundvolden Hotel

The biggest issue was the air conditioning. Its volume and intensity kept changing, and although we didn’t notice it at check-in, it became loud later at night. I managed to fall asleep, but my partner couldn’t. He messaged and emailed the receptionist without getting a reply. He didn’t want to wake me by calling or going to the receptionist, especially with several more hours of driving ahead. When we raised it the next day, the receptionist apologized and said they could have helped if we’d called or come down, though the system is centrally managed so there might not have been much they could change. We’d stopped here on our road trip through Norway and had been looking forward to the location. The hotel has a lovely vibe and feels stylish and modern. The receptionist was helpful at check-in on the evening of Saturday 6th of September, sharing the information we needed and a nice bit of the hotel’s history. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. The noisy air conditioning was a disappointment.

The breakfast buffet had loads of choices, homemade items, and a separate allergy station. The bacon was super crispy, the bread homemade, and the scrambled eggs were real. The restaurant also serves really great food at lunch and dinner. The hotel is extremely cozy and part of the “De Historiske” collection. Its recently renovated SPA facilities offer great treatments, and the outdoor areas are big and beautiful, with a jacuzzi and relaxing lounges. Staff in housekeeping, reception, and the restaurants were lovely and warm. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a nice hot tub and high-quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion.

Old traditions and art come together beautifully at this congress and Spa hotel. It feels luxurious, like a hidden pearl close to Oslo, with a relaxed atmosphere, great food, a gym, and free parking. The staff were so kind and helpful. Highly recommended.

I’m still waiting for the hotel to refund the second spa fee they charged me. On checkout day they took payment again without any reason, even after I showed the receptionist that I’d already paid. The money itself isn’t the point, it’s how they treated a customer. Why should I have to waste my time over 15-20 euros? They kept me waiting for minutes at checkout because they couldn’t see the payment. That wasn’t my fault.
