I was lucky to spend three summer weeks at Scandic Kirkenes and would come back. The breakfast selection was surprisingly huge, and we could sit out in the open garden for breakfast or drinks. Dinner included a tasty Scandic menu and some local specialties, while the bar made surprisingly juicy cocktails. The rooms were cozy, with lovely hillside views from the third floor. Clean and friendly. Tussen takk. 😊

The pool and sauna were great, and breakfast had a really good selection. Evening staff were friendly, though the day staff came across as a little officious. The hotel felt like a typical Nordic place: very expensive, practical, a bit run-down, and busy with tour groups. There were no working lockers in the changing room, and the steam room had clearly been out of order for a while.

Fine for a night, but that “sauna” was baffling 😂😂😂. There’s a big gap under the door, so my legs stayed cold the whole time. I don’t think whoever built it had ever been in a sauna before.

A pretty standard place. I wish there’d been an easier way to plug my CPAP in beside the bed. Off to the side, there’s a lovely lounge area, a good spot to curl up with a book.

We didn’t stay overnight. After getting off the Hurtigruten cruise, we needed somewhere to leave our bags, and they offer baggage storage and a few other facilities for a small fee. It was handy while we waited for our flight, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
