The location right on the main road was ideal, and I’d stay here again. The room was clean and simple, and both dinner and breakfast were tasty. I saw the complaints about no air conditioning and few amenities, but Lillehammer is at 61 degrees north, where air conditioning isn’t common or needed. If you come here just to sit in a hotel, you’ve missed the point. Get out and walk around town.

For the price, this basic hotel is a great deal, especially in expensive Norway. Breakfast and a light dinner are included, which is pretty wild at this price. The room was clean, but it got quite hot, and the cheap mattress sagged badly. Parking was great, though expensive, and everyone seemed really friendly.

Hotel Hammer made a great base in Lillehammer. It’s a simple, cozy place, and the staff were very friendly. The garage is tight to maneuver in, but manageable. I’d recommend staying here.

Rooms were clean and comfortable, though the shower was on the small side. This charming hotel sits at the end of Lillehammer’s commercial street, close to shops selling mostly quality goods and souvenirs. We tried the Tex-Mex buffet dinner, which wasn’t one of our better meals on the trip. When the dining room fills up, the sound bounces around so much that conversation is hard to hear. There are several smaller seating spots in the lobby for a quieter, more intimate get-together.
