The rooms were very clean, especially the bathroom, and the toilet and sink seemed to have been updated. Breakfast was included and pretty good, with cold options, fruit, boiled eggs, juice and coffee. It’s in a beautiful location, and it’ll do if you need somewhere clean and safe to sleep. That said, the hotel needs some serious care. It’s beyond retro, the rooms are very worn, and the decor is unusual, with flower-print napkins used as doilies. The booking system was just an Excel sheet printed out, which made check-in take longer than it should have. When we arrived, there was also a strong, unpleasant smell in the lobby, like a cafeteria.

A charming old-style hotel, about a five-minute drive from Nesbyen. The rooms are simple, but tidy and clean, with everything you need. Breakfast was really good, with lots of variety. I’d highly recommend it 😃

The owners may have stopped modernizing the hotel, but they certainly still care about it. Everything was clean, and you could feel how much they love the place. It has a retro feel, just as the photos and other reviews say, and in a good way. We were the only guests in our group of four on the Tuesday we visited, but Anni still served us a luxurious breakfast buffet. It’s a stay I’ll remember.

We’re three bikers checking out places to stay as we ride around lovely Norway. Cruising through the fjords and mountains on a motorcycle is epic, and I highly recommend it :) Smedsgården is a great place to stay too, if you get the chance. The rooms are pretty decent, the service is good, and the staff are friendly. They have Wi-Fi as well. We give it four out of five motorcycle stars.

Nice, clean room and good service, plus a delicious breakfast. There aren’t facilities like a kettle, hair dryer or minibar. It’s about a 10-minute ride from town, with a pretty nice view and a sheep farm in front of the property.
