We spent two nights there this weekend for a confirmation. Our double room was a little small, with a compact shower, but we came away with a really positive impression. It’s a recently renovated hotel, clean and well cared for, while still keeping its traditional character and homely charm. I’d forgotten my hair dryer and really needed one, so I asked the woman at reception if I could borrow one. The owner was available and offered to help right away. Within minutes he had one ready, a small gesture that meant a lot to me and made our stay memorable. We’re grateful for the kindness and hospitality throughout. Thumbs up for the great service 👍🏼 Highly recommended!

Erik, we loved chatting with you! You were a highlight of our whole Norway trip. We were the last guests of the season and arrived later than I’d put on booking.com, but Erik was so kind and such a wonderful host. He clearly loves this historic hotel and wants to make a real difference in the local community. The rooms were thoughtfully laid out despite the limits of the old building and its small spaces. We had gorgeous views from our room and could hear the river. It was a great stop between Jotenheim National Park and Oslo, though we wish we’d had more time to just relax there. - Laura, Laurel, and Elizabeth

The cozy rooms have lots of wood, comfortable beds, and lovely views of the dramatic forests. The TVs are high tech and let you connect to YouTube, Netflix, and other services. They use Starlink, so the internet is amazing for the area. Downstairs there’s a small, cozy, country-themed bar with some good beers. I love the country style and atmosphere here. The owner, Erik, is an amazing, ambitious, and friendly man.

We stayed in rooms 5 and 7. Both had very soft beds, free Wi-Fi, and TVs we could connect to Netflix. The elegant, cozy feel comes through in the lobby and dining room, and we were able to relax and enjoy our stay because Erik looked after us so well. Thank you for the experience, Erik. See you next time :) It’s a great place to stay for Sjoa rafting or horseback riding in Øvre Øien. Erik is generous and gives excellent service. You can tell he works hard and enjoys what he’s doing, even though he only recently took over the hotel. Breakfast could have run more smoothly, though Erik wasn’t working then. The staff’s friendliness made up for it.

The renovation is still underway, but the parts that are finished look stunning. Breakfast was basic, though sometimes that’s enough. It’s an extraordinarily charming place, and the owner is so enthusiastic. I’d recommend it to anyone passing by.
