The staff made this hotel stand out from all the places we stayed in Norway. We watched movies in the huge common room and got to chat with other guests, which made it feel like home. I can’t remember the name of the person who checked us in, served dinner, and was still there the next morning for a hearty breakfast, but they were a real gem. We stayed in October, during a road trip through Norway.

I haven’t stayed overnight, but I’ve celebrated two family birthday dinners here. It’s a lovely old house in beautiful surroundings, though a bit remote, which I actually like. Service was solid, and while it isn’t fancy, it’s a cozy spot for medium sized parties.

The staff were ridiculously friendly and helpful, and Rita deserves a special thank you. We also enjoyed the food, which was very good without being particularly expensive. The hotel is a lovely renovated old building in a quiet coastal hamlet, with several walking trails nearby. We followed one up to the mountaintop and got a great view. My better half and I stayed two nights this October, and we’re very likely to come back.

The room had a nice view, though the balcony was too dirty to step onto. There isn’t a shop near the hotel, not even a supermarket at the nearby gas station. Meals arranged by the agency were quite basic, though I’m unsure whether that was the standard or simply the option we got. There’s no lift, but someone kindly helped move our luggage from the road to the room. At checkout we left it by the door to be taken back to the bus.
