The location is central and convenient, and breakfast was good. I’d originally been ready to give it one star, but after I was about to check out they found me a better maintained room, so I’ve changed the rating to three. My first room was tiny, almost like a prison cell. The mini-fridge sat on the floor in a corner, there was no desk or shelf, and I saw cobwebs on the ceiling and lamp and dust on the curtains. It made me wonder how well the rest had been cleaned. Some rooms may be good, but mine was not, and the staff seemed disorganized. I pointed out the dirt to reception and was told it would be cleaned. The next day it was still there, definitely not cleaned, even though I’d shown the receptionist what I meant. A possible room change also hadn’t been passed from the first day’s receptionist to the next one, so nothing could be done at that point. I doubt my colleagues or I will stay here again for work if we can avoid it.

I was 83 and they put me in a room reached by several flights of stairs and long corridors. When I pulled back the bedcover, it was crawling with silverfish. I caught and killed them, but didn’t want to make the long trip to zReception, pack up, and change rooms. Avoid the place until it’s had a deep clean and gets a lift. It cost £120 for one person.

The central Sandefjord location was perfect, and the staff made us feel welcome. I liked the historic atmosphere and the building’s classic character, which carries through to the rooms. Everything felt comfortable and well kept. If you enjoy places with history and charm, this one is worth considering. I’d happily stay again.

The Scandinavian design pulls the place together, and there’s a nice garden where you can sit outside with a drink. Breakfast was very good too. It’s a clean, comfortable, cosy place with a friendly feel, and there’s no rush or stress about staying here. A very positive experience.
