The breakfast was tasty, especially the multigrain bread, crackers, and fruit jams, and it was included. But when my 14-year-old son got up for cereal, the hostess shouted, “WHERE YOU GOING? GO SIT DOWN.” He was really frightened. I explained he was just getting cereal, and she only glared at me. Four Norwegians at another table laughed. We’re Asian Americans, so make of that what you will. We were only there for one night on the way from Odda to Oslo. A bad storm had closed several roads, so we arrived around midnight. The owner had kindly stayed up for us, spotted us from his window, and called with directions since there were no signs for the hotel. Our room was dark, on the second floor up stairs with no elevator, and had beds for four in one large space. Tall people should watch for the low ceiling overhang. It was fine for a night’s sleep, aside from the hostess yelling at a 14-year-old.

The hosts were so welcoming, and the breakfast room itself was impressive. We stayed two days to see “Sauland” and “Telemark,” and this B&B was outstanding. We didn’t find anywhere comparable on our trip through Norway and Spitzbergen. Everything was tidy, with brand-new rooms and bathrooms, and the breakfast was excellent. There’s also a lovely interior design shop attached. It seems ideal for couples or families, with lots of places to visit nearby.

You get a lot for the price, and everything was clean. The owners were very nice, breakfast was great, and they even rent out e-bikes for a little trip around the area. It has what you need in a B&B. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a B&B nearby. Dutch guests can just speak Dutch here, the owners are from the Netherlands. ;)

The owner is pleasant to talk to and a great person. I can’t say the same about his wife. I’m a very calm person, and I hadn’t done anything wrong, but she called me drunk and said I’d woken all the residents. I was sitting quietly outside, smoking and messaging my family. I wasn’t playing music, shouting, or making noise. She threatened to cancel the rental if it happened again. It was frightening and cruel to be yelled at like that. I still don’t understand why it happened, and this is my opinion of the place.

Everything was new and clean, with an interesting interior, and the breakfast was wonderful. She wasn’t polite or customer friendly, though, and came across as cheeky. Maybe she was stressed, but hospitality should matter more.
