Ydalir Hotel

I really liked the welcoming, kind staff, and the thoughtful touches, including excellent shower products. The breakfast was tasty with a good variety. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the modern design had minimalist lines. Being able to arrive by car and charge it right at the hotel was a great bonus. It felt well managed and was definitely worth staying at.

The parking takes a little planning. There are about six spaces right outside, likely for people who've arranged their arrival with Swiss watchmaker precision. Otherwise, it's a short walk to a public car park, enough to make you mutter about sensible shoes and the lack of tarmac by the door. That's my only grumble, and I'm a professional grumbler. Ydalir Hotel is tucked away somewhere you'd least expect a hotel, with that quiet, properly Scandinavian isolation feel. The room was genuinely comfortable, everything worked, and the bed was superb. I climbed in and forgot about petrol prices and the state of the world. Breakfast was glorious too, a proper feast made with clearly good quality ingredients, a fine barrier against a bad day. It's a pleasant, quiet, comfortable place that gets the basics right: a good night's sleep and a proper breakfast. The walk to the car even gives you a bit of fresh air, which we could all use more of.

After a busy day, the comfortable rooms make for a relaxing place to unwind. The central location is handy for families, and the staff are friendly and clearly care about their service. There are plenty of amenities to make a stay more enjoyable. It’s a lovely place to make memories with the people you love.

We stayed four nights in a superior double room, which was cute, cozy, and spacious. The design and colors felt welcoming and relaxing, and the mattress was very comfortable after long days of sightseeing and hiking. From the day we arrived, the friendly staff suggested places to eat. The breakfast selection was fairly limited, though what they offered happened to suit me. The patisserie was really good, but it could run out before you got there, so it's worth starting breakfast a bit early. The hotel is inside the university, making it peaceful but less convenient for getting to the city. Public transport is available. Since we were traveling around Norway by car, it worked perfectly for us. The hotel's parking has limited spaces, but there are free spaces a 2-3 minute walk away. There's also a laundry room in the basement, and staff can provide detergent if you ask. There's no restaurant for dinner, but staff can help arrange food delivery before 9pm. I'd definitely stay here again if I get the chance to visit Stavanger.
