Valldal Camping

The owner was really helpful and kind, and the sanitary facilities were clean. We stayed in a cozy, clean cabin and got nice service throughout. The campground sits in a beautiful valley beside a river, which makes it a great base for hiking. We had a great stay and would happily come back.

We arrived during check-in hours for the cabin we’d booked, but there was nobody there. A note on the door gave a number to call, and it didn’t work. We tried several times and got no response, so in the end we left and cancelled the reservation. They called us back two hours later. Really poor service. If you know guests have bookings, someone should be there when they arrive.

The campsite was clean and well equipped, but there were only two small tent pitches. I guess it works better for camper vans. I was on my own with a tent and no car, yet the night cost me 20 euros. Another campsite in Valldall, near a river, charged just 10 euros. This was the most expensive stop of my month in Norway, and a pretty bad experience. Nothing was included either: showers, the washing machine, and even hot water in the small shared kitchen all cost extra, paid through some kind of card. Pretty useless in the middle of nowhere. You can imagine what two people with a car would pay. I’d go to Valldall or wild camp instead.

The tent area is right by the river and has a nice fire pit. A really nice campsite. Bring dry wood if you can.
