Hotel Traditional

We had several lovely breakfasts up on the sunny rooftop. Our room was clean, warm, and comfortable, and the staff were kind. The manager was especially accommodating and resourceful. Highly recommended.

The staff we met were delightful and always ready to help or accommodate us. We had a delicious breakfast, and the room was comfortable and thoughtfully set up, with a good hot shower and tea and coffee facilities. The location is excellent, with a rooftop view over Durbar Square.

Two staff members were particularly kind and helpful, and even drove us straight to the bus station for Nagarkot. We really appreciated it. A couple of the morning staff found it a little difficult to communicate in English, which made it harder to explain what we wanted. We would have liked a traditional Nepali breakfast, though we understand continental food is easier to prepare. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a spacious king-size room. It was clean and nicely decorated in a charming heritage style. The hotel sits right on the corner of Durbar Square, where we entered through the gate with the tourist counter. The staff at the counter were strict about the entrance fee. I asked to pay later because we had heavy luggage, but they wouldn’t allow it. We had a very good stay and highly recommend this traditional hotel.

We booked two deluxe king-size rooms, but on arrival the owner said a "system glitch" meant they were already taken. He told us, "That's not my problem." We were put in very basic rooms that were in poor condition, nowhere near the standard suggested by the ratings. The bathroom had mold all over it, and there were exposed nails in the floor. I’ve included a few photos of what we experienced. Avoid this hotel. The owners are dishonest.
