Bowentown Beach Holiday Park

Loved our stay and can’t wait for another getaway. The site was amazing, though its size was a little different from what we’d been emailed. Everything still fitted. The weather was with us the whole time, and there was free WiFi, which we hadn’t expected, though we didn’t need it because we have plenty of data. No complaints. Book ahead, people, this place is great for any occasion!

The kids loved the playground, especially the big trampoline and climbing structures, as well as the games and organised Easter activities. There’s also a kids’ games room, a separate TV and movie room, and a cafe right inside the camp. The barista coffees were fabulous, and the toasted sandwiches and slices were delicious. The shop has the usual supplies. Toilets and showers were cleaned fastidiously, and the communal showers were free to use. The camp kitchen is smart, spacious, well equipped, and clean. We booked a Premium Beach Bungalow for four nights over Easter weekend at Bowentown Beach Holiday Park. It was expensive by camp accommodation standards, but our family had sites there and we wanted to stay with them. The staff were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, and we got a warm welcome. The bungalow looked brand new inside, with an immaculate living area and a sunny timber deck out front, plus an umbrella for shade. The kitchen had a generous mid-size fridge, a small but adequate freezer, ceramic cooktop, utensils, and nice crockery and glassware. The bathroom was spotless, the queen bed incredibly comfortable, and the built-in bunks in the small bedroom still left space for a baby portacot. The heat pump added comfort, and the windows seemed to be double glazed because closing the door cut down outdoor noise a lot. The beach is lovely and literally a 60-second walk away. There are easy walking tracks with great views, even for people like us who aren't hikers. Waihi Beach shops and village are about a 4-minute drive, or easy to reach by bike. There are cafes, boutique shops, a Four Square, chemist, fishing tackle shop, hardware, gifts, and more. We also had amazing fish and chips from the takeaways. We couldn’t fault the camp, have booked again for January, and this is our new favourite holiday spot. Highly recommend Bowentown Beach Holiday Park!

Our non-powered tent site by the beach was a treat. We fell asleep to the waves and woke to native birds, and the beach was right there. With four boys aged 0-8, there was plenty to keep them busy: the playground, game and movie rooms, pedal karts, and the beach. The Labour Weekend events made the park feel like a fun community, especially the sandcastle contest, outdoor movie, and family games. We were pretty stoked that our sandcastle won! A night soak in the spa was a lovely way to finish the day. The staff were genuinely welcoming and always ready to help, and the facilities were spotless and well cared for. The whole place felt relaxed and family focused. Watching the boys make friends and spend their days outdoors was the best part, and leaving was hard. We’ll be back, Bowentown has earned a place in our family traditions. The only downside was packing up and going home.

A lovely woman called us after we booked at the last minute and moved us to a better campsite. It was perfectly placed for easy access to both the beach and harbour. Everything was super clean, people were very friendly, and the coffee was spot on. We’ll definitely be back.
