We stayed two nights while my husband had an eye procedure. The room had very good blinds that gave us privacy and blocked the light after my surgery, and the back door made it easy to cool the room down. There were a few housekeeping and supply issues. There was no milk, only creamer sachets, and the tea and coffee weren’t restocked. No tea towel was provided, and on day two we had to ask for fresh towels. The fridge hadn’t been wiped, the dishcloth was grubby, and the shower didn’t look as if it had been cleaned for a long time. My husband found his bed very hard and the pillows really heavy, so I slept without one.

The manager is genuinely pleasant to deal with, and the rooms are roomy and well equipped. This is my go-to motel when I’m in Auckland, which happens often, thanks in part to its spot right in the middle of Remuera. It’s usually quiet, though every so often a car, including a Hilux pickup left idling for ages, pulls away early from right outside the door. Cleanliness can sometimes be a bit short of perfect.

The room was already dusty and the carpet was dirty when I arrived, and the bathroom didn’t look properly cared for. I expected basic comfort and hygiene for the price, but this motel fell well short. The management seemed very poor and unprofessional, and I don’t think the stay was worth what they charge. There are cleaner, better options around Auckland, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

It’s a small motel in a lovely area. Nothing fancy, but I felt safe and comfortable, and the family who run it are nice.

Everything I needed was in the room, and the price was excellent. I was only there for one night, but I’d come back when I’m next in Auckland. The train station is about a five-minute walk away, handy for events at any of the major stadiums.
