Chifley Suites

Even though Booking.com hadn’t sent our reservation through and the hotel was very busy that weekend, the staff went out of their way to find us a room. The service was as good as we could have asked for. Our room was clean and well appointed, and the location was great. I’d definitely stay again.

The staff were very nice and helpful, and our room was spacious, comfortable and well furnished. The hotel is affordable and right in the town centre, very close to the Skybus drop-off. We had a great stay and I highly recommend it.

The room would have been okay, but too many things went wrong. The dryer in the room didn’t work, they require a deposit, and the Wi-Fi disconnected every few minutes, making it basically unusable. The hotel is advertised as four stars, which it isn’t. Reception is also advertised as 24 hours, but nobody was there when I arrived, so I had no idea what to do with my car parked on the street. It’s cheap, but there are much better options in the city centre for a little more money.

We spent over a week here in December 2025. Our two-bedroom deluxe apartment was quiet and well appointed, with two bathrooms, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen and daily housekeeping. The amenities were top notch, and the Barclay suites team were friendly and reliable, from reception to housekeeping. WiFi was stable. The location is great for a trip to Auckland, close to Sky City and a short walk from the bus station, train station and ferry terminal. There’s a supermarket a block away and convenience shops open late. Highly recommend it for an Auckland trip.
