City Lodge Accommodation

The room setup wasn't as shown on the website: the double bed was pushed against the wall on one side, and the TV was oddly placed and crooked. At check-in, staff demanded our drivers licences for ID, scanned them, and saved them to their computer. We asked for them to delete the scans, but they couldn't tell us whether that had been done. The website said the key fee paid on arrival would be refunded at checkout. We were told the refund would take 5-7 days instead. My wife and I asked for two keys but were told there was only one per room. The front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The rooms were comfortable, and the shared kitchen was big and very well stocked. Sam, reception, and housekeeping staff were all friendly and professional. A great experience.

We booked a year ahead for a major event, but a few weeks before the stay they emailed to cancel. Afterward, Expedia showed rooms still available at a substantially higher price. When we called, the person spoke little or no English and wouldn't say when the manager would be available. We had to find different accommodation and pay a lot more.

The room on floor 7 was great, with an amazing Sky Tower view, a cool shower, and a quiet setting. We paid for parking, which is limited, but it worked perfectly since we left the car there. We used the buses all the time and got gold AT Cards. The lift was good, the kitchen was small but easy to use, and we enjoyed interacting with all the young people. It's an easy place to stay, wonderfully situated, and good value. We book here every couple of months now. Thanks to all the very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
