K Road City Travellers Backpackers

I spent two weeks here and would happily stay again. My bed in the four-person bunk dorm was one of the comfiest I’ve slept in for a while, and a good bed is probably the most important thing for me. The room also had shelves that were handy for keeping my things organised. Plug sockets were scarce, though. I had the room to myself most of the time, but a full room would make charging everyone’s devices difficult. The bathrooms were clean and modern, as were both kitchens. There just wasn’t enough cooking space or utensils for more than two people, so sometimes you had to wait to prepare food. The location has its good and bad sides. Shops, bars, and restaurants are very close, but the nearby bars and clubs get loud on certain nights, especially Friday and Saturday. I’d go out those nights, because getting a good night’s sleep could be tough anyway. Solid 8/10.

Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. It’s loud at night, and the bathrooms were dirty, with toenails and old razors left around. I’m not usually that picky. The atmosphere felt off-putting, and it wasn’t even cheap.

A clean little hostel in a great location, and the manager is very kind. My only small gripe is that there’s nowhere communal to relax with other people. The only shared indoor spaces are the two kitchens, and they don’t really work as places to hang out together. There is a balcony with a table, but in September it was too cold to use properly.

It was easy to get around town on foot, and otherwise this was a pretty standard hostel. I had a bed in a shared room, but it stayed quiet, with no partying or anything going on. The kitchen was fully equipped, and there was a meeting room on every floor. I believe they run weekly barbecues, though I skipped those. I was quite happy with the stay. When I needed to shorten it at the last minute, the staff were very helpful and arranged the refund without any fuss.
