Oceanic Hostel

A great spot in the CBD, and we felt very safe there as two girls travelling alone. The price is very good, the staff are lovely, and the rooms are clean and quiet. The big kitchen has everything you need, and both the kitchen and the showers and bathrooms are cleaned twice a day. There’s free laundry too, which is super useful. I recommend it as a place to stay in the CBD.

For $270 per week, you get a furnished room, a shared kitchen, laundry, fast Wi-Fi, and everything a student needs. Oceanic Student Hostel is really clean and tidy, and I had a great stay. The manager, Ted, is kind and helpful. I forgot my key many times, and he always helped without hesitation, which I’m grateful for. For a student, especially one from India, it feels like a 4-star hotel back home at a really affordable price. It’s a peaceful, comfortable place to stay while studying in Auckland, and I totally recommend it. Thanks for everything, Ted and team!

There’s a huge kitchen with everything you need, including 3 sinks, 3 cooktops and 20+ pans. Our room was clean and good too. The drawback is the lack of windows or outside views in most rooms and all the shared areas, so you can feel cut off from what’s happening outside. Still, it’s a great place.

I’m surprised to see the low ratings. It’s not a 5-star resort, but it has what you need and what you’d expect for the price. The location is handy, with the train station and supermarket within walking distance. Our room was clean and tidy, with good Wi-Fi, a fridge, heater and towels. The shared kitchen, toilet and shower were cleaned daily, and I never had to wait to use them. Laundry was free too. There wasn’t much else I could ask for.
