Onehunga Suites

The owners were quick to respond and helpful, and the location was handy right in the middle of town, with free parking. The room was modern, great and had everything we needed. Check-in was self-service, which was pretty cool. At check-in there was a range of things like toothbrushes and soap, plus even hair ties and beads for kids. That was so cool.

The shower pressure was awesome, and we appreciated the 24-hour parking. The staff were helpful too, letting us check in early so we could catch a 2pm train. The woman who helped when we arrived was especially kind while we sorted out the parking tablet and lock box for the key. At first glance, we were quite happy with the room. But after we went out soon after checking in and returned 5hours later, there was a strong smell like cat pee in the room. The automatic hrv system, or whatever it is, eventually cleared it. It had been on when we first checked in and was off when we got back. There was hair in the bed that wasn’t ours, and the mattress was rock hard and squeaked with every small movement. I drew the short straw and had the 3 year-old in my bed. The window blind might as well not have been there, the sun was streaming in before 7am.

Check-in was the best and easiest, it made everything so simple. The room was nice and had exactly what I needed for my solo stay. I’d definitely stay again. The wind was blowing really hard lastnight, though, and the windows sounded like they were rattling out.

The staff were extremely helpful and responsive, and the self check-in instructions were very clear. The rooms were lovely, nearly perfectly clean, and nicely updated. Super good value.
