We eventually got a refund through booking.com, whose customer service was very supportive, but staying at Parnell Pines was a filthy, upsetting experience. I booked three nights in January 2025. After a long day at a dance conference, I arrived to find no one at reception. I had to call and wait ten minutes for a key. Several doors were wide open to the public, which was the first red flag. Once in the room, I lay on the bed and saw hairs on it. A closer look showed a dirty bathroom, stuff dripping from the mirrors, and sand in and around the drawers. I called my partner, upset, and he spoke to management when he arrived. After about twenty minutes, the manager came down. He agreed the first room wasn’t up to standard and said he didn’t think it had been cleaned recently. We didn’t want to spend the evening there and asked for a refund so we could go elsewhere. He offered a more “premium” room for the night at no extra charge, and said I’d need to contact booking.com about cancelling or getting a refund. The replacement room also wasn’t very clean, though it seemed slightly better. Tired and upset, I called booking.com, explained what had happened and said we wouldn’t stay the other nights and wanted a refund. While I was on the phone, my partner came out of the bathroom and told me there was a used tampon on the floor by the toilet. I was in complete shock and had a panic attack during the call. Even the booking.com representative was freaking out for me. He told me to get out as soon as possible. It was around 10pm, and they said they’d investigate. Please research carefully before booking, and if you do stay, keep your expectations low. This deserves a rating much lower than 3.
