QV All You Need - Air-co & Carpark - 904

The bed was awful. Its edge pressed into my legs when I sat down, and the mattress dipped so much that I felt stuck in one spot. If I tried to move toward the middle, I rolled back. The room also stayed hot even with the thermostat set to 19 degrees, so I could only sleep under a sheet. Dust from what looked like the ceiling vent had collected in a very visible patch on the wall, something the cleaners should have noticed. The room looked good online, but in person this was a very basic, no-frills hotel. The bathroom had nowhere to put personal items, no hand towel, and one-ply toilet paper. There were no tissues. The shower floor was dangerously slippery, and running the kitchen tap made the shower water go cold. The laundry machine was already leaking onto the floor before we used it. The non-stick pans were scratched, and there was no dishcloth for the dishes or counter. Since the room wasn't serviced daily, we needed more detergent, but were told we could only have one small pouch each and weren't allowed more. I asked the front desk for toilet paper too. The staff member said he'd bring some up, but never did. The TV kept turning itself on in the middle of the night, so eventually we had to switch off its power at the wall.

The location is the one good thing here, with everything close by. The room was dirty, with ants, toenail clippings on the floor, and cutlery that still had visible oil residue and didn't feel clean. At check-in, the man was rude and wouldn't let us in. Even after we showed our details, he kept saying he had no confirmation and told us to call our agent. He didn't even check the computer to see whether we had a booking, and was no help at all. I wish I'd read the comments before staying. I wouldn't recommend this motel.

The uphill walk from the train station is worth preparing for, though the location itself was fantastic. We found the bed comfortable and the lobby staff kind, but had little interaction with them. Our Deluxe Studio, 1 King Bed, Non Smoking room was a decent size and had a washer and dryer, plus a kitchenette with most things supplied. We did need to ask for dish and laundry soap, and may have had to pay for it. The dryer worked, but was VERY noisy. Water also escaped through the gap in the shower door, so we had to be careful where we pointed the shower head. All in all, a very nice stay.

The room cleaning was meant to happen every third day. On the first scheduled day we were out all day, and when we got back around 4pm, the housekeeper asked if we needed towels or anything, but the room hadn't been touched. One housekeeper was always smiling and pleasant, though. Most of the staff didn't seem happy to be there. There was also one woman who was helpful, but very stoic and hard to approach. This was my first time in an extended-stay type hotel. I picked this one just because it was the first listing I saw with a washer and dryer. The rooms aren't great, and I put the specific details in the room section below. I plan to email their corpse office about some of the hotel's unsavory processes.
