SO/ Auckland

We won a night’s stay as a prize and weren’t sure what to expect, but it turned out to be really nice. The hotel has a boujie feel, and our room was elegant and comfortable, with a freestanding bath. We also had access to the executive lounge, where the free canapes and drinks were a nice touch. Breakfast overlooking the Harbour was a beautiful way to finish our stay. We’d definitely recommend So and hope we can return sometime.

The view from Harbour Society is stunning, and the private dining room’s minimum spend is very reasonable. It’s a lovely fit for a small, intimate event. Our eventstylist team held a dinner in the Waitemata Room last Saturday, and it went really well. Thanks especially to Florian, the restaurant manager. Their prompt replies and smooth communication made a real difference while we were planning. The concierge team gave us lots of support on the day, and the restaurant staff were incredibly friendly. Highly recommended, and we look forward to coming back.

We found the bathroom privacy issue people mentioned wasn’t a problem for us, just pull the curtain. The rooms are elegant, comfortable and luxurious, and the service and facilities were great. From the rooftop bar we watched the sunset, and the Harbour Society restaurant was high quality, though the menu was fairly limited. A good value, high-end hotel with a great spot near the cruise terminal, which suited us perfectly. We’d recommend the Accor Plus package for even better value too.

We were in Auckland for a night before flying out and stayed in a corner room on the 7th floor. Being able to walk straight outside into the harbour area, with its nice shops and restaurants, was great. Check-in was easy, and when we asked, we got a noon check-out. Thanks to Accor for the welcome drink at the top-floor bar, which had lovely views. The pool, sauna and spa were divine, and we enjoyed the yummy breakfast buffet. The bathroom had a solid door separating it from the bedroom, and the room amenities were great. Our rate included Exec Lounge access. The lounge was nice, especially its partly open-air second level, but the canapes were seriously below average. That wouldn’t stop us coming back next time we’re in Auckland.
