Solsen Flexi Stay & Motel

I booked just 30 minutes before arriving on a Saturday night and still got an executive sweet at a very good price. It was roomy, comfortable and cozy. The person at the front counter was lovely and let me check in early, which was awesome. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Auckland. Thanks very much, Solsen Motel.

The welcome and customer service when I arrived were great, but the refund issue left me disappointed. I got $100 back for the incidental fee, then $50 was later deducted from my account over an alleged accident with the bed sheets. Nobody told me about the deduction in advance or asked me to authorise it. If they were keeping $50, why not deduct it from the original $100 refund instead of taking it from my account afterward without telling me? The conflicting information about the refund process made the whole thing more frustrating.

16 hours later and still no one answers the phone. Check-in ends at 5 pm, so don’t book here if your flight lands after 3:30 pm. They take non-refundable bookings and don’t mention the 5pm cutoff before you book. They send an email with contact details, but never reply or answer the phone. Look at the email you’re supposed to reach them at.

The rooms are very spacious, and the motel has a clean, contemporary feel. It’s modern and newly built, easy to find, with friendly, helpful staff and a large bathroom. The building looks good from the outside, and access is secure. Some parts still need attention: the parking surface and exterior waste area are unfinished, and a few room and bathroom details need maintenance. Noise and light come through the rooms easily, and the kitchenette supplies are basic. A comfortable choice for a short stay, with strong potential as the new facilities get refined.
