The staff were consistently friendly and welcoming, and check-out was smooth. The gym was fine, and the jacuzzi was available, though the sauna wasn’t working while we were there. The food was acceptable but pretty standard. Even with those positives, the stay didn’t meet expectations, and I wouldn’t return or recommend the property. Before our four-night visit, I emailed and messaged to ask about extra fees or a bond but got no reply. At check-in, they said they would take a $250 deposit. I accepted, but would have appreciated clear information beforehand. I’m still waiting to hear about the remaining $16.50 after putting charges on the room. Our room had a pleasant view, but water leaked from the fridge. The free Wi-Fi was very slow, and the TV was basically unusable because streaming and movies kept loading and buffering. The place is advertised as a 4.5-star property, yet it felt more like serviced apartments than a hotel.

Jess made a real difference to our stay. She was amazing, made check-in smooth and easy, and her hospitality helped make the whole visit wonderful. I’d highly recommend this place because of her.

My wife’s birthday fell during what was one of the most depressing stays I’ve had. I’m a positive person who tries to see the good in everything, so this was hard. The workers all seemed sad, and I didn’t see a single smile. A 1/5 experience. We had to follow up about the sheets, then were told they’re changed every three days. On day three, the cleaner arrived with a terrible attitude, dumped clean sheets on the chairs and left without cleaning the room. The phones in the rooms didn’t work, so we had to call reception on my personal phone. When I asked for toilet paper and fresh towels, I was told to come down and collect them myself. The restaurant food was bad too. I wouldn’t recommend eating there. Customer service was awful. May 2026.

The shower had the best water pressure I’ve ever had in a hotel. The breakfast was okay, though the pastries were dry. They’re meant to heat the Bain Marie from underneath, but it wasn’t switched on, so the food was cold. Breakfast only runs from 6:30-9:30, which is a short time to keep bacon, sausages and hash browns warm. That was fixed on days 3 and 4 of my stay. It was good value, but the older rooms had a lot of broken things, including the towel rails and bathroom shelf. The door between the bedroom and lounge was off its rails and nearly fell off. There was always a queue for the two lifts in this 15-story hotel.

This is an apartel, part apartment building and part hotel. The complimentary buffet breakfast was the only thing I thought was okay. The location wasn’t ideal either, since the building is on top of a hill and you face an uphill walk back every time unless you drive or take a taxi or Uber. I wouldn’t recommend it. We arrived to check in at 4pm, but our room wasn’t ready until 5pm. The front desk kept saying it was still being cleaned, and they had lots of people checking out late. That wasn’t our fault. I’d have been fine if they’d told us it would be ready at 5pm and suggested we go sightseeing and come back. The booking said check-in started at 3pm. It wasn’t a good welcome to NZ. We booked a room for four, but it had only one bedroom. The other bed was in the living room, behind pull-out walls. The main bedroom wouldn’t get cold. The “centralised” aircon didn’t work, and only the living room cooled down. There were problems throughout the room: the TV on the “furniture” was a hazard, staples on the couch scratched our legs, the kitchen sink tap wobbled, the bathroom door wouldn’t lock, and the blinds were broken.
